I was looking for some help with an ID and age with this two-piece button. It was found on the Columbia River and is in fair condition. I "think" the material may be brass. The button shell appears to be stamped with the decorative motifs (note reverse side) - any ideas?

Thank you in advance... David

I look forward to a definitive ID on this. The device says early 19th but the alloy throws me. This is one of those I could learn a lot from.

It looks like red brass, bronze or more likely copper, not like yellow brass. Will a magnet stick to the backside? Was the button cleaned?

I had higher hopes for this button but it appears Cru is correct. This design is listed as fashion. Still a cool copper iron back button. Are those scanned pics?
