I found this brass piece recently in the same area where I found a 1922 Canadian penny. For scale - the penny is the same size as a modern US penny. The only marking on it is the 'PS' logo. I rubbed one end of it on fine emery cloth and it looks like it's solid brass. It is 3/8" thick and 1-13/32" wide along the top.

Any ideas as to what it is? Someone else found an identical piece in the same area a few weeks earlier. It looks like it might be a weight or something that slides into something else, and the two tabs along the top would hold it in. ???

Is it magnetic?

No, it's not magnetic. I just double-checked. I used fine emery cloth on one end and it definitely looks like brass. The photo shows it a bit darker than it actually is.

You don't have a digital scale do you James? I would agree with the others if it has a specific weight to it. Like 50 grams or 100 grams or something like that.

No, I don't have a scale but I know someone who does. I'll get a weight for it.
