Hi Grant, Homemade Rev.(?) War soldier, from a kit sold at hardware and toy stores in the early 1900's. The slag still attached suggests it was incomplete or broken after it was made and thrown away. No company that made lead soldiers would let an unfinished figure leave the factory (on purpose.) Are you digging an old playground?!? Sub.

Thanks Subterranean. When I was posting these finds I was tempted to just title them, "Subterranean, please look!"

I was digging at a house built in 1952, but the road it's on dates back to at least Revolutionary War era, maybe earlier. Along with the items you've commented on, I also found a 1916 King George V penny, and a spill of 1820-1860 Chinese coins (IDs in progress). I posted them in today's finds. I'm not sure what was there before the house, but I'm going to try to find out!

Hey Grant, You are swinging on a plot used by children who, if they were the ORIGINAL owners and are still alive, would be about 85-90 years old now, based on the age of your toys! Since the house was built in 1952, the kids that actually lost the toys may have been the children of the original owners....? I am sure you will find more, so best of luck and I am always happy to try to help ID those old playthings. I always enjoy seeing your finds. Sub
