So I took some coins to a local auction I go to a lot and I have gotten to know the auctioneer, and he was fine with selling some of my coins, Accept for the 3 in the first picture, all the others I told him to sell Choice out on..
These were the results..
1. middle coin was a 1923-s Silver dollar, Ebay was $30-$35 but sold here for $45
2. Coin on the left was a 43 Walker, on Ebay was about $13 but I sold it for $35
3. Right coin was a 1914 Barber Dime, I think was listing for $7-$8 on Ebay and sold for $15
The rest I sold as Choice, meaning they bid it up and high bidder takes choice, then anyone else can take choice at that price,
So high bid was $10 (two bags of mixed coins included 1 Merc and 1 Rosie each and mixed buffalo and V nickels in poor shape) Both bags sold for $10, plus 6 more choice for $10 each, (silver quarter I'm sure) then he sold the remainder for all, per piece... which means your bidding on one but taking all the rest for the price Xs your money, so someone paid $5 x 13 for the rest...
Grand total was $240 and I got $194.00 after the 19% commision.. Although that seemed high, it was a shitload more than I expected for crap buffalos and V nickels (you guys know how terrible they come out)
Clearly I was getting more than double silver value, you can look at the dates and conditions and try to determine if you thought it was good or not.
*** NOTE !! There was a Flying Eagle Cent in that lot that I sold, Worst condition of almost any coin I have dug, you could see the Silhouette of the eagle and just make out the 1857, and the wreath but almost nothing else, Most of the people had never seen one, and didn't know what it was and I think (don't know) it got taken in the lot of 13...
P.S. I have dug 4 Flying Eagles in my time and still have the others.. they will go for much more I'm sure because they are in good / great shape
