SoCal student researching the drought's effect on placer mining. Locations?

California State University, Northridge student looking for placer mining locations that have benefited- increased yields or convenience - from the drought. Specifically places with reduced water levels. Know of the San Gabriel River's east fork, but that is it. What days would prospecting be the heaviest and warrant a visit?

Maybe you should contact people at one or more of the metal detecting clubs that focus mostly on prospecting.
Contact Keene Engineering in Chatsworth, which hosts one club, I understand.

For other clubs, check the California clubs listed at:
Metal Detecting Clubs in the United States
Some of the people at these clubs should be able to put you on the right track.

One more thing. Maybe you'd get more responses if you posted a message in one of the
gold prospecting forums here (if you haven't already). They're all grouped under
http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/gold-prospecting-forum/

Good luck!

I just don't understand why the whole membership has not jumped in here and gave their locations up, all in the name of science.

GREAT ADVICE. Just interviewed Patrick Keene and my post in the Gold Prospecting Forum has gotten a lot of responses- all helpful.
