From the finds looks like a great site, the silver will be coming out soon, hopefully gold too

Hey Cru , That silver spoon is a nice find - In the hands of a decent silversmith it could be turned
into a thing of beauty . Argentium.

Yes, I'm still awaiting one similar to be done ::) (Shaun7 hint)

Crotal bells and thimbles are two of my favourite finds Cru! :notworthy:
Sure wish I could find as many as you and your Dad do! :laughing7:
Love the look of that silver spoon, too bad it wasn't complete eh? :'(

The spoon is complete, just very bent up. :icon_thumright:

Its my second silver Georgian spoon this year with initials on it, this one has;
O
TM
Surname beginning with 'O'
Husband first name 'T' & Wife first name 'M'
So something like Timothy & Mary Oliver

See my other below:

OK, I now see the spoon in your third pic. :-[

Now, is this something that you would consider restoring Cru or would you just leave it as is? I know with the amount of items you find, considering restoration on any of them can become extremely costly.

The first one I got this year, is with Shaun7's jewelry friend to be straighten. I'm doing this for a gift to the landowner (along with other finds). Depending on the cost I may consider it again :icon_thumright:

UPDATED ID:

I wasn't happy with the reading of the hallmarks on the Silver Spoon, the issue was it had no Assayers Mark which made it more difficult to pin down.
This morning I decided to research the Makers Mark to narrow the search & thankfully found a match for IL = John Lias II (1801..1817). He made flatware in London, which is spot on for the date letter [ O] 1809.

:icon_thumleft:

Good day again, and nice research on the spoon, should straighten out good :icon_thumright:

This is our reserve land, it's within cycling distance for me & we will get back to gridding this one later. Its another field we tried years ago & chalked it up as a waste of time. However, this is why its sometimes good to have no choices, its forcing us to grid difficult land (no nearby sites), miles from anywhere, & I'm pretty sure it will pay off evenually. If not, we cross it off for good, as we would have covered every inch.

(I may get it straighten, not sure yet)

cool finds as always

Nice finds again.

You were nearly right, I would have never thought it but this field produced that elusive Gold Coin, just 11 hours hunting into the new year! :headbang:
