So lets just say I was out in the snow all day and found a Cache of say 73 gold coins mostly $5 2 $20.00's and 5 $10.00and about 350.00 in silver dollars buried in 3 glass jars. Lets also say hypothetically I bust my hands up froze my donkey off today but God was with me.

What should I do next, really what would you do in this hypothetical situation????

Congratulations – Hypothetically of course.

pretty detailed for a hypothetical situation.

Stash them, sell a couple now and then, in a town where you are not known.

But definitely post some pics. No one knows you here......

Yes on the first part, NO!!! on the second. The desire for fame and praise will only bring you heartache and misery. You don't post it here, you don't tell friends, your don't tell family. You put them some place secure and only sell a few at a time (in a distant place), and never to the same place twice.

You might want to donate it to the Packers organization - They can draft someone who can catch on-side kicks? :dontknow:

If you open your mouth, the trouble will come. Tell no one. Sell a few at a time here and there after you do your home work on what you are selling. Might plan vacations around coin shows, all across the warmer states. Hypothetically of course.

HI BOB!

first thing I would do is take pictures and post them here

in all honestly other then that , I can't say till it happens.

But Circumstances would tell me whether to tell the story,
or just post a :laughing7: with the pics.

would need to have plausible deniability

What Jason in Enid said,,, 100%.

Do not even hint at having found anything.
But that is over now that you have posted here.

NEVER,,, EVER say you found ANYTHING of value while MDing or THing.

Just some simple thinking through of the situation should tell you this.
If you must sell anything,,, do it small,, and do it for cash only.

Just my .02

I'd go inside and warm up, indulge in my favorite beverage, determine the coins conditions, grades, and values, and then check travel brochures to somewhere a lot warmer than Green Bay in the winter!

Hypothetically of course, most of the times I ask for permission to hunt private property, 9 out of 10 times I hear "if you find a fortune, we split it okay?". With this in mind I would feel obligated to split the cache with the property owner. Just my humble hypothetical 2 cents.

I find that the moral compass is a little skewed regarding this topic, but watch how it is less skewed if the topic is "permission" Just my humble hypothecial 2 cents.
