Ouch. Can't say that I haven't procrastinated too at one time or another on things like that.

Yep, me too fella's, me too.

And I think back to when I was a young'un, the older folks, having known me and my parents and grandparents, would say "You just help yourself," (on the rare occasions when I had the nerve to ask), but now they're gone, new folks have moved here and getting permission is so much tougher.

... The lot has been there for at least 10 years that I can remember.

If that description lot had been up here in my part of CA, it would have been hit (somehow ... some way) long ago.

Ive been wanting to ask permission to hunt this empty lot for years, that is one house away from an old adobe built pre 1800`s that I think might be a historical landmark, I drove by the other day and the lot has framing on it, Condos or something are being built. :BangHead:

Only suggesting....
Write each site noticed that has appeal on a separate card or paper.
Then do research on who owns them / pays taxes on them one at a time when seeking a new site to swing on ,then seek permissions.
Not too late to find out who is in charge of construction on the build site and see about hunting it during their off hours. You won't be hurting the landscaping.

Find who owns the adobe structure while you are at it......

Maybe, but its in a very busy area and would be tough to detect without the neighbors or or anyone seeing you, Its also right across the street from a large high school.

The lot is almost completely taken over by the structure and the adobe is a California designated historical landmark, I just checked. :(
If a historical landmark is privately owned can the land owner give permission to hunt it? HHHmmmmmm........ :tongue11:

hows it go..."an opportunity not taken is one missed"

i see places all the time and think, "that would be a good spot" then i never follow up on it...

Hey, I feel your pain. I have so many old structures around me, but the permissions are slow in coming.
Plus, the winter shuts us down for 4 plus months.

You can ask landowner. I’ve hunted registered places with owners permission. I’ve had several places that has seen some historic activity in the past and my time to shine was when new construction began. Makes it easier when the grass is stripped back and I can get in there for some of the deeper targets. Yeah I miss a few of the shallow ones cause they took out the sod but them deeper targets are a lot easier to recover now
