You know lately every time somebody here ticks me off I've been giving them a pretty good beratement. Not that they usually don't deserve it, it usually takes a little more than just your average run-of-the-mill disrespect to set me off

But then, another thought crossed my mind.
if I was a kid, this would be exactly the kind of forum that I would be on all night long.
if in fact that is the case, please let me apologize in advance for my impatience and overreaction

However, if you're within 10 years of my age, what the heck is wrong with you?
(just kidding)

So my question is "are there a lot of kids on TreasureNet?"

We have members of all ages and try to be a family friendly forum. That means treating every member with respect. If you do not like something move on.

Well you know, that explains a lot of things, and honestly I've never quite thought about it as such.
Maybe there should be a few more reminders built into the design aesthetics of the site itself.

I mean do you ever read some of the reactions that are posted in the name of humor or cleverness?
Certainly not always appropriate
it certainly wouldn't hurt to have a permanent banner in some subtle location on the homepage that reminds posters that tnet is a family friendly environment.

You have been a member for four years. Have you never read the rules to the site? :hello:

Myself personally I am a grown adult "lets just say over 30"and without children and currently have a few days off of work and don't have much to do thus up till 1 am on tnet. Anyway I will say in the past I have let some of my friends kids create there own post under my name. Sometimes I look after they are done or what they want to post and cringe but kids are kids what am I going to do erase there post later because I feel embarrassed over it. Or worse tell them no you cant post that. It might be something that's trivial or common knowledge to adults, but heck they hear us talking about tnet and next thing ya know they to want to post finds or ask questions on tnet. I have let them post items and ask questions but not surf and comment on other posts making jokes and what not. The jokes or sarcasm would be from me Helix.. I try and avoid the whole letting others post items under my name now a days when possible. Next times hopefully we can take the time and set up our own account..... Other then that myself after having a few "adult beverages" I tend get a bit squirrely. As the saying goes "take it as a grain of salt" My 2 cents.

I vaguely recall reading through the rules sometime during the month of October 2010. Frankly, quite a lot has happened since then. I don't recall reading anything pertaining to age limits or actual site demographics. Thus, my question.

Just be nice to everyone if you can. The stupid people have enough problems. They don't need to be reminded all the time.:tongue3:

There are also a lot of people that are not in our country.

there used to be an age limit posted, but I'm not sure what it is.

if it is still here, It's probably on the sign up page :dontknow:
but 12 to 300 sounds good,

we really don't want any 301 year olds slobbering all over the place, do We ?

Don't hold your breath on finding a person under 18, if there is, they are far an few between...... avg_digital_life_2_1024x704.jpg

There are a number of young folks (under 18) that are site members.
For the most part, I've found they are well spoken and not afraid to
ask a question if it's something they don't understand.

We have one young fellow in the Prospecting forum that's been
"taken under the wing" by most of the old timers. He's a great kid,
and his mom monitors his posting.

Well I don't know about that... but I do know I'm guilty of acting like a 12 year old at times when a nerve is hit. Guess I need to learn a lesson and just walk away.

Maybe there should be labels out beside your' member status based on the Birthdate entered when you sign up!

8-12 years of age = Young Puppy
13-16 years of age = Puppy
17-19 years of age = Spring Chicken
20-29 years of age = Old Enough to Know Better
30-39 years of age = Starting to Feeling the Aches & Pains
40-49 years of age = Starting Over the Hill
50-59 years of age = Over the Hill
60-69 years of age = Old Fart
70-79 years of age - Crusty Old Fart

Or some designations similar to those. You get the idea!

I also hate that it is not required to enter and show a member's location! They don't have to enter Detroit, MI but at the least give a region such as Lower Michigan or other. I hate it when I am responding to a Thread and think I am responding to an O.P. that is in Latvia but they are really in Lake City, TN. Arrgh!!

Hi el pardon; YES THERE ARE.!!! I myself have asked the Moderators to start a new Forum specifically geared for our youth here. I have yet to get a response but it is their decision ok. I responded to a Post by a 17 year old that was asking if he was the only kid here. I responded to him and asked any other youths to respond. There were 11 responses.!! :icon_thumleft: Our youth here are OUR greatest resource and we owe it to them to be ever mindful of their presence and to encourage them at all costs ok. I hope this helps. I do appreciate your heart in this matter. PEACE:RONB

I have seen quite a few posts from young members, they are here they are respectful and just don't constantly post their age so are hard to recognize. ..
