And I stop at a party store on the way to poker and ask for halves. The cashier says yeah, I have a few. I offer to buy them and he says do you want dollar coins? Now I am very conditioned to take this to mean gold dollars. I say no, just the halves. Well he was bringing the coins to the counter and I see BIG dollars IN PROTECTIVE COIN HOLDERS! I mentally kicked myself for declining then quickly said well, if you want to get rid of them I will buy them.

They turned out to be Eisenhower dollars but they were still in the collector case! They were spent that way and sold to me that way! First time I have seen that. I thought at first they were ASEs and my heart was racing!

The cases were tight, I had to use a knife to pop them open, but come on, how fast do you have to have a 6-pack??

Ikes make great home-invasion protection if you put a few in a sock. That's all they are good for. Oh, and use for boat anchors, of course.

Are the Ike's silver?

No, they aren't silver but the 1971 has som nice toning and is in pretty good shape. It does look silver but its not.

I remember someone on here got a proof in a case like that. Anything from the halves?
