MY WIFE, god I love her butttt, she went to the store and had two 10 dollars bills one was a new and one was a 1950 $10 dollar bill, all she had to do was go outside to the car and get $1 dollar for the total was $11, heck they talk about how it looked, so she did not go and get the $1, she gave him both and he gave he change man I told her go back and get it, noooo she said next time I will,

you may have gotten double its value tops
from someone realy desperate, or uneducated
at best.

a dealer would have given you 10
 

depending on the series. for example 1950, 1950A, 1950B, 1950C or 1950D. I pull all of the "old" sytle bills from circulation and sell them to a local dealer for 25-50% over face and he sells them for 50-100% over face, depending on condition.

Look at it this way, she may have just got someone else interested in a hobby involving money, which usually leads to metal detecting. Trust me, I'm a victim of that process. :D
