Hit a couple banks today that I've never been to. First had nothing. Second had $630 in halves. As soon as she took them out of safe, my heart sank. I could tell they were dumps. I was hopeful that at least one roll was from an old lady.
Then, I see five dimes at the bottom of her tray that didn't look like the rest. I asked if I could buy them. Nope, those are mine, I'm saving them, she says. Crap, I hate silver hoarding tellers. I had a feeling, if she was holding the dimes for herself, the halves would be a waste of time....I was right. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Sounds like a good place to dump moderate amounts of halves... You know she's going to want to take them!

I fixed this for ya... I've gotten to the point where I can walk into a bank here in CT and pick out who is the silver hoarder!

I can relate. One favorite source bank has a silver hoarding teller, an older lady. They have a policy there that the tellers can't keep coins for themselves. The head teller tried to get her to part with some halves in her drawer and I overheard her say that she had a friend coming in later to buy them for her. I could see the silver edges on those halves. Instead of turning it into a dump bank, I befriended the other tellers there and they save what they find for me :laughing7: The silver hoarder only gets what comes through her station. Unlike the other tellers there, she doesn't smile at the customers and has a nasty disposition. While there waiting, I've noticed that most customers coming in will avoid her window if they can.
