Bought a small little pendant claiming to be turquoise to me it looked like too bright and weirdish blue to be real but wore it anyways.
They say gems when they've helped you enough they try to leave you this tricky bugger fell off my neck 3 times after no issues for first 5 months. So on the 4th I decided enough was enough.
So to figure out if real turquoise I crushed it open. Revealing same veins and colour inside. Is this just some nicely dyed howlite or legit turquoise I can't decide. either way decided to toss it back in the ground where it was meant to be,( since if it was real turquoise it was surely making itself known it no longer wanted to be attached to me!) Couldn't tell from pics. I'd guess if dyed, the cracks would be more heavily colored then the rest of the stone. (can't remember exactly)
It's also possible it may have been a stabilized turquoise.

If you really ever wanted an proper ID on a cut gem, a gemologist is the person you need to speak to. And he needs to see it in person.:occasion14:

They were all a deep colour, wasn't too worried about it literally paid 1$ for it off eBay so either way
Thanks for advice will definitely keep in mind next time I need something verified, that could be worthy of a good chunk of change. Sorry yea the picture really isn't very good.

Cheers sir

Your pictures are so blurred I can't tell a thing.
Turquoise can very a lot to the point an expert can often know what mine it's from.
Deep dark green blue to a very light green.
It's often faked with as you said with dyed howlite or even plastic.

I remember buyer I knew that when a seller showed her the turquoise stones he was selling
she threw them against a wall shattering the stuff. They were plastic. I can't imagine the nerve
to present fake stones to a professional buyer.
