I found this in an area where I've dug coins and items from late 1800's and early 1900's. It's brass or copper, has a decorative lip, and is hinged. It has a diameter of 1.5" and is about 5/16" thick (the thickness is tough to say for sure because the bottom is caved in).

Cosmetic case still has my vote. At 1 1/2 inches, my bet is a rouge container.

It is a type of makeup. I had posted one on here a couple of months back. The tin was almost the same exact size as yours, mine said Princess Pat . It was a type of tint for women. I have to say mine is in a little bit better shape, just saying : )

I'm going to call this one solved. A rouge case is the most probable ID especially because the place I am hunting had a gambling hall and brothel on the property up until the 1940's. So rouge fits the M.O. Thanks everyone!
