Snowed in but here's a future site, WWII bunker...

I haven?t researched this yet however, I?m sure this is a WWII Nazi bomb shelter and small caliber shooting range. This is in the area I will be moving to with my job soon and not hard to get to. Had planned on detecting here but I could not get the shovel into the ground, it?s frozen hard! No finds to show but here is a future detecting site.

One entrance that leads to a stairwell. A nice German eagle still intact graces the entrance, the swastika has long been removed.

Peering into the hole of the entrance, a stairwell going down.

The shooting range and another bunker entrance.

Above the second bunker entrance is the word ?Urlaubsbunker? or ?Vacation Bunker?.

Peering into this entrance, it has been partially filled in.

On the backside of the bunker, another entrance to the right and a deep shaft 3?X3?.

Inside the third entrance.

The shaft was probably an air shaft, looking down into it I would guesstimate it to be 20? deep. At the bottom I can make out a few boards, tree limbs, tin cans, a push broom and three fire extinguishers, or maybe bombs, LOL, they are in the right corner standing upright! HH, Mike

Woww,

Me and some friends of mine have been busy searching and visiting WWII bunkers for over two years now.
Made multiple trips to France and Germany, and found "non existing acc. to government" tunnelsystems in my own Country: Holland.

Can you tell me where this site is at?

Greets!

Cool site Mike! :o Should turn out some good finds! There is one of the Civilians from work that has a spot where two years ago ,he found 4 WW2 rifles and other equipment. He said the rifles had no bolts in them but he found one of the bolts about 30 feet away. It is pretty close to here but he does not want to go again till spring but he said he would take me there. A local told him that the US troops came right across a field on the edge of the town at the end of the war. I hope the place still has some stuff to find. :)

Interesting site you have. Good luck in the spring.

Re: Snowed in but here's a future site, WWII bunker...

Will you be allowed in, or is it against some law? I would imagine if it hasn't been discovered by MDers prior to, then it would be a great place to go! Good luck!

Re: Snowed in but here's a future site, WWII bunker...

Great site. The shaft looks like a good place to use a magnet.

awesome!

Re: Snowed in but here's a future site, WWII bunker...

Looks like a fantastic site Mike. Be careful of those bombs, er fire extinguishers...Lance

Re: Snowed in but here's a future site, WWII bunker...

The shaft might have been an escalator for munitions from a tunnel system. Great site ! Be careful what you dig.

Mike, great site, I was stationed in Germany in the late 60's after I returned from Nam. I had no interest in war relics at the time, but I wish I had known then what I know now. Best of luck, but be careful some things still go BOOM after 60 yrs. trk5capt....

That is just too cool! Please keep us posted on what you find when the ground thaws.
