I was the first person at an estate sale this morning and picked up this nice little scope with the original supply tag still attached for 2 bucks...i could tell it was military and had to try it for 2 bucks.....turns out it is a WW2 sniper scope for the Springfield model 1903A rifle....I was wondering if this is a weaver scope or some other manufacturer....on the plate it says:

TELESCOPE, M73B1
STOCK NO. 7579931
SERIAL NO. 36167
7635029

thank you for any info

All's I can tell ya is that it's worth a hell of alot more than $2. There are majore collectors who are into haveing an exact WWII sniper rifle and the hardest item to obtain is the scope. I wouls google WWII sniper rifel colletors and get a gander of what it can bring ya unless you are going to keep it.

It is definitely a Weaver M8 scope for the 1903A rifle, but it is sadly missing a piece...The fluted front end piece is not there...check out this site...:

It's actually a Weaver M73B1 scope and it's all there. The scope with the hood was the M84.

Over 29,000 M1903A4s were produced. They were all produced in 1943 and they were all produced by Remington. I used to have a M1903A3 and never should have sold it. '03s are one of my favorite bolt-action rifles. You can see one in action on "Saving Private Ryan" and it's interesting too because the sniper is left-handed shooting a right-handed bolt. (No left-handed M1903s were made)

Cool find!
