Snake identification..

So, I was in the Smokies and saw this guy sitting in a tree. Any ideas as to what he is?

Black snake. It's good luck to see one.

If you're in the south somewhere, It's a black snake. They are alot of fun when you're fly fishing and land yer fly on same log as a bunch of 'em are sunning on. Lucky snake catches the fly.....

Common Black Snake, Very useful snake to they eat poison snakes.

Maybe a version of the Black Racer? The white under it's belly looks like our Northern Black Racer, found two in the tractor shed.

Try doing a google search for Black Rat Snake. Pretty sure that's what it is, also non venomous. The black snake everyone is talking about, I believe is the southern version of the Kingsnake which does eat venomous snakes. The snake in the picture, however is a Black Rat Snake.
