Black snake. It's good luck to see one.

but not good luck if it falls out of the tree on top of you and you wet yourself and break a leg running and fall into the brush and cut yourself all up.

I would say that it was a pretty content snake after eating lunch.

If you're in the south somewhere, It's a black snake. They are alot of fun when you're fly fishing and land yer fly on same log as a bunch of 'em are sunning on. Lucky snake catches the fly..... ;D

Common Black Snake, Very useful snake to they eat poison snakes.

O yes, I was hopeing for some one to say it , , rferris75 , nailed it  they eat poisonus snakes ,thats why there good luck to see one!

Try doing a google search for Black Rat Snake. Pretty sure that's what it is, also non venomous. The black snake everyone is talking about, I believe is the southern version of the Kingsnake which does eat venomous snakes. The snake in the picture, however is a Black Rat Snake.
