This might be my most questionable post yet. I found it in an area of high erosion, and I was looking for square nails. I first thought it was glass having seen the broken edge, then I realized it was quartz. The quartz is broken, but incredibly smooth on all sides. I know this may seem crazy, but was it brought to the area or artificially smoothed. The area it was in is devoid of permanent water, and it was buired fairly significantly. It is very smooth, more so than quartz I find in the creek. Crazy thoughts, but thank you for considering. I posted this earlier in what is it forum, but I wondered if it would be better suited here. Thanks as always. 5CE5F405-5C28-40A9-A2F8-B5FC7983697F.webp733B9C78-C1C8-4ED6-9A0B-F67A0860D60A.webpB35BEA2F-AC41-4376-9B14-50C7668E4E05.webpA501206D-5BBE-47F3-82EE-C998AC436F6B.webp

The shine yours shows. No clue on that, weird.

Alright, thanks for the replies. I just have never seen such a strange piece of quartz so removed from water and inland. Weird what nature deposits. Thanks again!

Quartz -- often crystals but not invariably -- would often be one component of a medicine bag (of a shaman or otherwise). I know I once found a small crystal of quartz, two fossil shells (Houserville jasper and slate) and a crystal I couldn't identify all together on a backwater Archaic site in east central Pennsylvania. Undoubtedly from a similar ancient medicine bag.
