I met Smittyman for a Saturday morning hunt. We are almost done with the tear downs that have been yielding the silver coins. Neither of us found silver coins there this weekend.

Here is a pic of the (92) dirty coins that I dug.

Once cleaned, there were (3) Wheaties, (3) marbles and a sterling ring.

The silver ring showed up late in the day, and was a sight for sore eyes!

His bottom jaw is broken off, but that's OK... it's still a silver ring.

Lastly, I tumbled some clad ($87.00 in 2 months). Whilst looking through the cleaned coins for "S" mint marks, I ran across this Lincoln cent. I wonder what Abe has in that pipe!

Thanks for looking and best of luck on your hunts!

Nice finds Tom but someone has tooooo much time on their hands to mess with that penny!

Isn't that a Cub Scout ring? In my distant, hard to remember that far back past, I was a Cub Scout, and they had ranks of Bear and Wolf among others. And I think I recollect rings like that. Don't think I had one, I think I saw them in scout advertising, and wanted one really bad. An idea for research if anyone is interested.

Nice hunt Tom. That Lincoln is cool. I agree with vpnavy, way to much time.

HH, RN

The Lincoln penny with him smoking a pipe was a novelty coin that I believe the Littleton coin company came out with in the 60's. I had one with kennedy starring at lincoln many yrs. ago, may be still laying around somewhere.

Still got silver! Cool 64 cent, Tom. Thanks for sharing and HH ALL.

Here is the Cub Scout one that you are talking about. I wish it was that one, as it would go next to my Boy Scout silver ring.

"S" mint marks mean they were made in the San Francisco mint. You know, D for Denver, CC for Carson City. I found 3 on Sunday, but looked through 2800 coins to do so!

Whoever worked that penny, needed to go out and cut the grass. I agree with VP. Way to much time on their hands, but it was a neat find for you.
