Hit a small offset park. Among finding clad primarily, and a handful of coaxial cable ends and other refuse, I got a 1941 D wheat and a smiley ring wearing sunglasses. Always, as do we all, I hoped for the more prominent things like silver, but I guess the ring reminded me to try to be happy anyway...I mean after all, the ring has been buried in dirt for who knows how long and 'it' still smiles.

I am a little sad however still, as my digging partner, Mr. Miller is going under the knife next Tuesday for knee replacement surgery...I don't think he'll be doing much digging after that, if any. I don't know how well people fare after such an operation. Is there such a thing as detecting after knee replacement? I need to make the next dig, hopefully today or Sunday quite meaningful. I'll get a picture of us in our digging garb before he's out. I guess wish him luck and quick healing and i'll pass it on to him.

Thanks TN friends! GL & HH

That is a cool ring! as they say...if there's wheaties, there is silver.

I wish the best for Mr. Miller in the upcoming knee surgery. My wife had surgery last year, she followed the therapy faithfully, the knee seems to be as good as new.
Kneeling in church is no problem to her, so if Mr. Miller does as well, he just may be able to handle a detector. As my old history professor use to say "Time will tell"

Nice finds!, it may take a while for your friend to be able to kneel and detect again, but after a while, that type of activity for the knee is recommended. best of luck

Nice finds, and I will keep Mr. Miller in my prayers!

Digger2, vpnavy, Cjon455 and damiani1: Thanks very much for the kind words, I shall pass the encouragements on to Mr. Miller. If the weather behaves we'll be out there somewhere digging. God Bless friends!! :) GL & HH!!

I had both knees replaced with Titanium/ball joints. No problem with detecting. I just take a foam garden mat with me and sit on the ground. It's just difficult to get back up. I have to put both hands on the ground and push myself up. No kneeling is allowed with knees replaced. There are times I just bend over to dig, but I also have a bad back, so digging is limited to 3 hours at the most. Prayers...your friend will bounce back after surgery, then therapy, and be back out there digging up some great finds.

Love the little ring and I will hope your friend Mr.miller does great after his knee replacement. I have a friend who is in her 70's and had a full knee replacement and she is hiking miles and miles now at Yellowstone and The Grand Tetons. Your friend just really needs to work through the painful rehab to get better. Will say prayers for him.

Thanks Old as Dirt and CoilyGirl! Well wishes, prayers and encouragements greatly appreciated! :)

I don't think I've ever seen one of smiley wearing shades before

it is possible to dig without kneeling. I just bend over, using my detector to steady myself, and dig with a long handled garden trowel.

Wish your digging partner well and partner also means maybe during his rehab, You can be his Digger occasionally, Would be a nice gesture and good for his SPIRITS.8-)

Cool ring :icon_thumleft: We will be praying for Mr. Miller.

Jewelerguy, SusanMN, Back-of-the-boat and Mo dirt diggin: Thank you all for your kind and thoughtful words, I'll most certainly pass this on to my friend. God Bless all of you. :)

I think it to be most appropriate to say that as I have never found gold in the earth, I have found gold in the hearts of friends, thanks TN friends. :)
