Small town covered by water found in Indiana

Tried to paste the URL here from USA Today but my kindle fire would not let. May want to check out USA today on line.

If anyone is from or lives near Andrews Indiana the low water levels have revealed and old town from the late 1870 and from what I read some foundations and old dirt rounds can be seen. According to the story the town was flooded over.

May want to go check it out if you can.

LOL.
It may not have been important 140 years ago, but 140 years later, it may be worth examining at instead of letting a bunch of idiots go screw the place up.

Archies definitely do get ridiculously out of line with their insistence that nobody do anything, ever, anywhere unless an Archaeologist is present, but lets not fall into some dumb "us versus them" simplifying ideology where the entire concept of archaeology is dismissed just because a few hysterically possessive academics occasionally take it too far.

Im from indiana and there are acctually 4 towns that they flooded for that reservoir. Theres are some people that go diving there and ive heard its quite creepy to be under water when u stumble upon the old grave yard with all the headstones intact and still standing.

The town is called Monument City according to the news i have read about it the town was flooded in 1965 and all of the graveyards were relocated to dry land. The DNR is giving supervised tours of the town now. Nobody is allowed to take anything away.

Coins were being found by hunters that beat the "can't take anything from the site rule". Like rollsroyce said nobody is allowed to take anything from there now nor are you supposed to be on the site unsupervised by Indiana DNR officers. Most of the old town is still underwater just a few foundations & parts of the old roads are visible near the banks of the low reservoir.
