I dug this scabbard tip in a wooded area near New Haven, Ct. from a depth of about 5 inches.
It is very small (2+1/4 in long and just under 1/2 in at the widest) and appears to be made of silver. Looks like the blade would have been small and possibly triangular.
By the looks of the craftsmanship and the designs I would think it's probably 18th cent.
Any ideas on the possible origin or any other info? At first I thought the upper end was broken off but these are typical designs cut into the end.

I am not an expert but I would guess it would be for a dagger. Real fancy, nice find.

I thought it looked like a umbrella tip. But I don't have a clue.
