Was hoping for a repeat of last weekend and headed out on Sat with friend Ryan in tow.

Hit up the usual spots and managed to stop by about 10 sales total.

It was slim pickens but still managed 3 vintage post cards with military themes for $2. Picked up a sealed bottle of pool chemical level test strips for $1. It was the brand I use and I am running low so this will come in handy. Lastly, picked up 4 pairs of small 14k earrings (8 pieces) for $10. As you can see, it is just shy of 2.5 grams of 14k.

I buy pool chlorine whenever I find it cheap at stores. I know the stuff doesn't store very well so you cant stock up on it too much. Considering I am dumping a gallon into my pool every few days, it really adds up.

Nice find on the gold. I buy stuff all the time that we use around the house. I should say the wife buys stuff that we use around the house all the time. We haven't bought ziploc freezer bags for years, lol.

Sometime I think we focus on the precious metals and fast return items too much and forget those treasures we use in our everyday life. Some of which we spend a small fortune for every year. I always try to keep my eye out for everyday items like that. I do woodworking as a hobby and I can't remember the last time I had to go to the builders store to buy sandpaper or paint thinner. Almost all of my tools have come from garage sales. I have bought destroyed electrical items for the electric cords. I buy cheap art for the glass in the frames. Used art supplies can save a fortune, many of which resell very well. Old paint comes in real handy in a pinch. I could go on for quite a while, as the list is endless, but you get the general idea.

Its funny you say that.

I have the need for about half a dozen frames for various things that end up in my "I want to get this framed" pile. Well, if you have ever actually taken something to a frame shop, it is quite expensive to have it framed from scratch.

What I plan on doing is taking measurements of the items I want framed and carrying a list with me as well as a small measuring tape for when I go to sales. I cant tell you how many hundreds of frames I have passed up over the years (most are only a few bucks).

I finaly broke down and starting making my own frames. A deceptively complicated proceedure. So now I also look for broken furniture, for the scrap wood.

"A deceptively complicated proceedure" -- translation -- Pain in the a**! :BangHead:

Edit: I forgot to post one of the scores I made on Sat. My wife is a teacher and she is always buying pens to give to the kids. Well, I hooked her and the kids up quite well.

Bought a box of 1000 Bic pens with some sort of unknown company customized logo on them. Paid $5. Should keep the kids supplied with pens all year!
