So I just got a Minelab 800. I’ve been trying to get it set up the last couple days. Today I figured I had enough grasp of it to get me in trouble. I walked into the back yard that I’ve live at for 22 years and detracted with my Bounty Hunter for years. I get going and had a good signal in Park 1 to get started. So, I dug it. 6” down I pinpoint it. Dug this metal box up. It’s made out of 2 pieces it looks like. 1 piece for the back, sides, and top flap. ( note there is no hinge). Then there is a front frame. Last a screw and hole. I found the screw inside the box.
It is magnetic. I’m guessing the top flap was not meant to open after it was made. Only the screw.

Any clues as to what this is or was for?

Maybe a match safe

I think so. I’ve been looking that direction. Most of them open to put the matches in but I didn’t see how this could open. But now I’m thinking the frame looking side was a sliding cover. Nice call.

Cool find, congrats! :icon_thumleft:
