Just dug this up - I thought it was half a knife handle at first but I'm sure its too small for that.
It measures 50mm long, 20mm at its widest width & 7mm at its smallest, hollow.
There are remains of iron pin where this would be fastened to something else, or the other half.
I think its brass or similar.
Here are the pics;

Any idea what its off? Age?
Thanks in advance.
David.

Appears to be a key hole cover rather than a drawer pull. The pivet hole is in the wrong position to flip outward like a drawer pull would.

Whether it was attached vertical or horizontal it still would have functioned the same way. The only differece would be base having the rotation. That said, if they are all made the same than I'd have to be wrong.

Iron Patch, I think Ricky might be right here. This is only a "half" object, so it had to lay flat against whatever it was in front of. That said, the hinge is wrong for a pull, no matter which way it is rotated. It cannot swing out with this hinge, it can only move side to side.

I think you're probably right, not so much that it couldn't be attached to swing out if a 2 piece draw pull exists, more just seeing the style is similar. The one above is obviously quite old.

Where do I send the $50?

Its a late Georgian Drawer Pull. If you had seen the full attachement you would realised it had a swivel type loop attaching it to the furniture. That iron residue is whats left of the attachment. It was free swinging & not pinned.

Sounds right Crusader. I take it there was a "u" shaped piece attached to the top of this whch was drilled like a one piece pull would be?

OK - I'll go and put it back then for someone else to find in a couple of hundred years! Might be worth digging up then.
Thanks for all the help.
