I Found this under a rock overhang high on some bluffs i know Indians camped and cooked there, lots of flint burned bone and mussel shells as well as stone tools... but it has drawn others because i find .22 cases but nothing else modern.. its on private land so its not like its a party spot just the occasional visitor... i doubt its a fired bullet because the mold seam splits the base perfectly but it is made of lead or pewter i don't really know because i was sifting not detecting. its about the size of a .45 musketball... don't know what to think of it. any help?

I don't know how the soil reacts with the lead in your area, but here in south Texas lead in that condition would be fairly new.

all good ideas, as far as the soil goes this overhang is just under the top of a prob 30-40 foot bluff and the "soil" is very fine, very dry dust, and 95% weathered limestone crumbling off from overhead so looks may or may not be deceiving. also i forgot to mention along with the .22's ive found 4 square nails so at the least an old board ended up down there, maybe used in one of the camp fires. what time period would a wad cutter bullet come from? same as the square nails 1820-1900 ish? fishing sinker certainly very possible but it is kind of an odd location to take your gear but it is within a quarter mile of the river and closer in the past

If that is a semi-wad cutter bullet, that type design was first made by Elmer Keith [the creator of the .357 magnum] so around 1930s or later.

well looks like it was an Indian multi tool worn as a nose ring until they needed a fishing weight or to fire their gun from the future it also rang a small bell so they could find each other in the tall grass... part of the fun of this stuff is sometimes its ok to make up a story i seriously doubt anybody is going to call me out. good work guys
