I found this today at a garage sale for $1 today, but I'm not quite sure what it is. It is a silver color and the only marking are "Paid on Jan 11 1937" it might say 1927, its hard to make it out. the top section that is secured by a flat head screw comes off, but there is not anything underneath it. it is just over an inch tall and quite heavy. anyone have an idea? photo-1.webpphoto.webp

Is it about the diameter of a quarter? Hard to judge the size.

My first thought was "pattern weight" used in sewing.

DCMatt

BTW - It probably says Patd which is short for Patented.

Yeah it's about quarter size and looking a little closer it does say PATD, thanks for the quick reply

Could it be the weighted plug for the top of a pressure cooker-steamer? Best of luck, Sub

Are you sure there is the word on? The photo is hard to see but it looks like PATD JAN 11, 1927.

We should be able to find it but please post a better photo of the patent date so we can google search exactly how it is written and save a lot of time and guesses lol. Thanks.
