Metal Detecting
hi all,

i found this gun while detecting today - i thought it was a kids gun but am starting to think differently

it is fairly heavy for it's size, about 5.5" long and has a number stamped on the end of the handle "755B"

i guess i'm wondering is it a real gun ? if so I'd love to find out a make or model and approximate age - if anyone has a website link to lookup such things or can identify it at all i'd appreciate it !

thanks - vp

What a kewl find!

Get that baby cleaned up some and show more pics...

Is there someplace for the hammer to hit a firing pin?

Is the barrel solid or hollow?

Real or not gun parts are heart stopping finds in my book...

It's an interesting color Kevin. Almost looks like a copper or brass patina. Is that just the lighting?

Weird grip shape. Can't be much of a kicker with those angles on the grip.
Try getting all that dirt out of it and see if there are screw holes, pins, springs, or slots in the frame. See if the barrel goes straight through and if so run a brush down it to check for the remains of rifling. Check for seams on the barrel and if the barrel is a separate piece from the frame.

I'm pretty sure it is a real gun, probably any one of a number of what was called "boot pistols". Looks like the cylinder, cylinder pin, trigger and hammer are missing along with the grips and hammer spring. In other words, all you have is the frame. :D But a very interesting find. Could date all the way back before the civil war up to the early 1900s. Thanks for sharing. Monty
