Ok, since you folks obviously know what you're talking about, I have one more item I don't really know what it is...

Well, I know it's a button, but it's so small and there's no markings on it:

It seems to have some sort of shiny gilt on it still, and you can see a cross-hatched cross pattern in the front. The back loop is still attached.

Thanks,
Kevo

Oh yeah, 1 inch down, ID's as a penny, an old 1800's park in Greensbrug, PA.

Thanks

IT COULD STILL BE VERY OLD BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF CIVIL WAR BUTTONS DUG UP AND THEY STILL HAVE GOLD GILT ON THEM.JUST DEPENDS ON THE TYPE OF GROUND YOU FOUND IT IN AND THE WAY IT IS IN THE GROUND.BUT THEY HAVE BEEN MAKING THE WEAVE STYLE FOR A LONG TIME AND BY A LOT OF DIFFERENT MANUFACTURES.

LOL Nick that is good

As far as age of that button, again, regardless if there is writing on the back or not, shank or not, it usually helps to show the back on all button finds to help with dating the button.

Nick,

Didn't mean anything with the caps that is just the way I type.SORRY.I was just saying that many of the buttons the confederate armed forces wore was either flat (coin), flower and some woven style buttons. Not counting the military issued ones. That was all that I was saying.Again, if I upset you I am sorry.
