I also posted this in "Garage Sale Finds" as I got it at a yard sale. Appears to be all brass with 08 or 80 stamped on bottom. Spool still turns although somewhat corroded. Picked it up for 25 cents. Don't really expect it to be worth anything but was curious about age and who would make such a small reel.

I found some on ebay in much better shape than mine for less than $25 each. It's a Climax fly reel made between 1890 and early 1900's.
 

Cleaned up they make a great display...nice score :thumbsup:

Gotta know who made it.
The makers mark, patent date, should be stamped or embossed on the rod mounting bracket,
should help date the item. I found my info online.......

My (partifact) is the drag, etc, control side or face of the reel,
which is brass and 1 3/4" in dia. - a very small fishing reel...!

......the last number of each date was very hard to see, from wear, I believe,
BUT, it's an oldie!
.....now I gotta find other TNet members that have found similar items.
