Small crusty....something

So I'm helping out a friend with id on an item he dug from a relative's yard...slightly squared shaft indicating a nail of some sort but the pointy end really throws me. Any help/suggestions are really appreciated. Sorry for the crappy photo...I'll try to get a better one up asap. HH to all !!

Maybe not though, it has two ends and they are more raised than most nails.

wow you may have something there...maybe one that was struck hard into something that bent the tip...makes me wonder how old it might be... anyway, thanks for everyone's responses.
