I found what appears to be a small buffalo nickel flat button in a area where I recently found some civil war relics. I have tried to identify how old it could be, but have come up empty.

As you can see by the photos, it's smaller than a regular nickel and has what appears to be a partial shank on the reverse. I have not cleaned it well yet.

Any help would be appreciated. "Happy Hunting" 060314 JS Sch.webp060314 JS Sch2.webp

Thanks for checking this out nhbenz & duggap. I saw that post earlier during my research. The button was found about 6 inches down near where I have found a civil war button and a couple of fired 3 ringers. I figure it was an old novelty item.

Happy Hunting!
