Any ideas on this one? Is it a harness buckle? Age estimate? About 2" x 1".

I'd say mid 1700's or so. There are people on here who know more about them then I do though so maybe someone will be of more help.

Not the "classic" batwing, but probably safe to call it that.

Using Whitehead's book?

I want that book! I found it referenced when I started searching buckles after I found this one. The only copies I can find available in the US are too pricey though.

I have never heard of Whitehead :dontknow: The ID come from a link I have posted many times, the Batwing is just a veriation of the Trapzodial Buckle...I actually like that style better than the original, proberbly a American theme on the original :thumbsup:
