Small Brass Item

Found this a few days ago. In the past i found part of a Civil War Confederate calvary horse bit very close where this was found. The bridle bit was brass and appeared to have the same patina. Is this item something horse tack related or something else. The center plate has 2 small holes and the widest point is about the size of a plastic bottle cap. Solid brass.

Agree. Old school 'back of the door' broom hanger.

I too was thinking 'household hardware' related when I first saw it.
It's heavily cast brass, so it's probably pre-1900 in date.
