Managed to get out yesterday for a few hours, nice hunting in the woods now that all the leaves and spiders are gone LOL. Dug many shotgun head stamps, lead bullets, misshaped lead, and other various junk. Just managed two keepers.

First, a small flat button, then probably a half hour later a really sweet signal that I pretty much knew was silver. I started to clear some leave with my hand and I was startled by something moving, it was a Wood Frog trying to crawl back under the leaves, I woke it up from hibernation. I’m glad I didn’t hit it with my shovel. Anyway, I dug out my target and it was a Standing Liberty Quarter, I didn’t know it then, not till I cleaned it at home that it is a 1919 my oldest SLQ to date. Nevertheless, I filled in my hole, grabbed the frog, put him on top of the loose soil and covered him with leaves..... sleep well my friend. LOL

Thanks for looking and happy hunting

Some old silver and a flat button... I'd be happy. I myself love getting into the woods and fields. Congrats to you.

My favorite way to hunt.... I have cut in half a few million worms...lol Always heard they will live.

Well done my friend. Hard to get one of those,, even harder to get one of those with a date.
Congratulations

Oh that frog looks like a sweet lil fella. Nice SLQ

Nice post. I like the frog.

Congrats on the nice old SLQ. They are tough coins to find.

Best of luck to you.

A very nice quarter there The standing quarters from 1917 thru 1924 had the dates so high on them they wore off easily, that is why we find too many that are flat where the date was.

Nice old flat button and very nice SLQ with a date. Those SLQ's only come around every few years for me. Kudos on the frog restoration my kind & gentle friend.:icon_thumright:

Last SLQ I found was December 28 2017 and I was on a hunt with Against The Wind.

You are correct 🙂. I only have a couple with readable dates and those were the later ones. This is my first readable date pre 1925. Thanks for reply [emoji41]
