Boys and I did about 3 hrs of exploring, rock climbing.
It got steeper and steeper, and slippery. I decided to turn around and get down, AFTER I saw 2 different "in memory" plaques on the cliff side! They were about 4 ft apart, and it made me think they must've slipped and cracked their skull open. About 10 ft. above is a ledge, and of course, a big drop! Kinda scary (and a surprise) to see these in such a place.
I saw one, and then the other about 10 mins after, and thought to myself, I better get down before I'm next!
Dogs found semi fresh deer bones, and enjoyed a snack, and then we headed back.
The boys were running up and down the rocks like the crazy goats do...

LOL
Not really, but could have fallen down that dang ledge.
I did wonder myself what that was there for.. right in the middle of the cliffside...
maybe he jumped??? God I hope not!
Maybe he wanted his ashes spread into the lake there... who knows...
just a strange place for those to be.

Believe those are for people that drowned off those cliffs. The park that is closest to Startzville had land that extended out into the lake. Very deep water on the lakeside as you went out. I was young and dumb then. Swam there mucho, scuba dove there. Caves and currents down below and catfish the size of Cleveland. About 90' +, if I remember. Maybe a little less. Lots of stuff like that around the lake. Plaques could also be for a boating accident. Ask the old timers...

Yes, the Comal park IS very deep... and there are crosses for several who've drown there. The lake can go from 6 ft to 60ft in one step!
I still swim there... just stay away from the intake, but, yeah, I'm still dumb! LOL
I love to distance swim...

as do I. 657 miles best to date.
