I think it is off of a vest/pants slack tightner buckle :thumbsup:

Sorry this is the best pic I have on the puter,and all of mine are boxed up(I am moving)

Note the buckle on the lower right corner :thumbsup:

it does look like the guts of a buckle, maybe an early shoe type :icon_thumright:

There should be an abbreviated month, day, and year. The year may be 2 digit.

example PATENT Aug 18, 95

Just going off the many of these we have dug.That time frame is most popular.As I said though,I have on rare occasion dug them dating to the 1850's :thumbsup:
