Here's another one, broke but happy to pick up. This site also haunts me...no kidding story but I walked over and passed up an easy, big, nice, polished up axe, land owner could not believe I had missed it, out in the open and fully exposed. My foot prints were all around it too!! This is when I was younger (late 20's) and the only thing I can blame it on was the hangover from the night before...who knows, but still haunts me. It was a dandy Iowa axe.

Great story and nice piece whats the white material you have alot of a chert type? Here is my nightmare as a youngster frequent creek walker (Tom the creek north the area I e-mailed you about )unknowing I used to pick up odd rock which was big pottery pieces and break them a friend picked one and remember I asked him if it had lines in it because sometimes they do! .Another same creek 2 plummets/bob maybe? found together at shoreline I knew something wasn't right looked purpose chipped at the time took intrest tossed the big one wouldn't fit in jeans pocket kept the small one in pocket where it stabbed me and poked hole in pocket as I rode my bmx bicycle so I tossed it too along the trail about 300 yds from where found I have been back looking for them some 20 years later .Got some whitetail deer nightmares too .Rest easy PaleoHunter sounds like your wife can sniff out an axe Lol .

iowa trout- your right, she has kicked my butt a couple times, the axe she said she would find, and on another trip the dandy 5 inch plus point she pulled out a row from me! i will get some pics up soon of these artifacts.
