skull pendant?

I found this Sunday at a house I'm rebuilding in the front yard. The house was built in 1929 and is right beside a civil war battle site south of Atlanta. Before I started metal detecting, I looked through the yard where the rain washed away the dirt "from construction" and saw this. Co worker said it looks like a skull with snake wrapped around. Any ideas? Also it's not magnetic and it kinda looks silver plated.

Since it has a loop on the back of it, it could have been a pendant. It appears to have been in a fire and melted. Is it entirely metal or are the round areas some type of stones?

see what your talking about,it does look like a skull.some time's stuff can play tricks with our eye's.but then again it looks like it might have been silver plated?
