My uncle moved into assisted living and we went through all his stuff. In it was an interesting ring that was apparently my grandfather's. He gave it to me, and I've been wondering about it since. My grandfather was in the Navy, so I'm wondering if this is a military ring. Can anyone help identify it? Thanks!

It appears to be Pewter and brass, but I'm not really sure how to determine materials.

German Panzer rings with similar face show up.
Here is a picture of an Italian ring from same era.
The crests on the side of yours looks Chinese?

I thought the crests kinda looked like Davy Jones. Interesting, the panzer ring has a similar relief cut around the skull and crossbones.

Definitely not a German ring, search for "Mexican skull and crossbones ring" and you'll see a whole lot that are nearly identical. The sides look Aztec or Mayan inspired to me.

If someone is trying to pass that other ring off as a "Panzer ring" they are either horribly mistaken, or trying to pull a fast one.....

Mexican Biker Ring. We have had several identical hereabouts in the past year or so.

yep. Mexican biker ring for sure. Not to mean they were worn exclusively by Mexican bikers, but rather produced in Mexico and favored by bikers. A lot of these date back to the late 40's and have a collectible following. I've got one I found in some of my Dad's stuff after he passed away. I believe they are made of German silver (nickel silver) with brass adornments.
