I have periodically read this thread with some skepticism - until today. And, though I have peeked at the Coin-Stars for some time, I've previously only found some really gross coins and an occasional spendable clad. Today's take:

1992 UK Queen Elizabeth II 10 pence coin
2010D Lincoln $1 coin
2000P quarter
2001D quarter
2007D quarter
2018D quarter
2022D quarter
2006D dime
3 - 2020D dimes
1999D penny
2006D penny
2015D penny
2020D penny

and - 90% silver
1964 dime
1956D quarter

2 of the pennys were grungie and stuck together - the rest of the coins (except the foreign), I could see no reason for rejection.

Welcome to the group who can never pass a Coinstar or other coin conversion machine without looking. I'll bet some started out checking the coin return on pay phones. Any body else ready to admit that did that. Do they still have those coin operated ones? Anyway, congrats on your find.

I used to check the payphone coin returns regularly, now I've dated myself. I haven't seen a payphone in years now though. I fear that they've gone the way of the dinosaurs now.

Was that all from one machine, or did you get them from multiple machines?

I have a confession to make . As a young teen I'd stuff a napkin up the coin return on soda machines . the napkin was out of sight when the return was checked . I'd return a few days later and fish the napkin out and collect all the change.
just one of many wrongdoings by a young buck in the 70s. that was a great haul you had on the coinstar.

Wow, that's one I had never heard before. Very creative, but very bad. :nono:

In the summers when I was a young kid, A beach where our parents rented cottages had a pay phone in a parking lot that me & my cousins checked every day.
Lots of sliver quarters & dimes, Of course @ the time, (1950's $ 1960's) we spent the money on ice cream, sodas & baseball cards. A friend of mine once found a capped bust dime in one near his home. Congrats on breaking your cherry in a Coinstar !! Keep checking !!! There will be more !!

Yep. We knew kids that did that & could've done it ourselves but we were too afraid of getting arrested & have our fathers kick the crap out of us !! I think some people are still doing it in Coinstar & other similar type machines.

Congrats as finding the bigger coins in that quantity usually doesn't happen often. I have found larger quantities of coins than you have so it's well worth looking. The silver is the bonus, but alas too many are getting wise to the coin stars and are cleaning them out before I get to check anymore. Stuck together coins are common from my experiences and a challenge sometimes to unstick them and clean them up.
