Skeleton Key off the List, (finally)

Not really a big deal, but at the same time I have been wanting one of these for a long time. A Skeleton has been on my want list for about 4 years. I posted it somewheres' I'll find it...

Here it is, 2011 spring wish list, top ten,

1) Silver cache.
2) US colonial copper.
3) Gold pocket watch. (found 3 (not precious) this year so it is possible)
4) old locket.
5) old cameo.
6) Victorian quarter, good shape or key date.
7) any silver half.
8) any button with a canon or an anchor in decent shape.
9) Gold class ring.
10) Skelton Key.

Was out with the notorious Leslie from Nova Scotia today, he came to my neck of the woods, we had a good time, as long as we could for old dudes with arthuritis (spell check that) about 4.5 hours was spent mostly chasing pennies, but a few good finds were had along the way, I got 6 Silvers, a tie for a days' record, and frankly was quite surprised at that. He, Les got a Silver, you know what they say...anyday with Silver is a good day.

The key maybe not so old ? I don't know as it is smooth, and coppery, but I like it. God luck out there.

Hi Michiganne, with 2669 post you have been at it awhile ? Skeleton keys, are like anything else, you just got to get lucky. It did take me 4 years to get my first. Some may get one on the first day... just the way it is. Sooner or later though you should get one.

Hope your season lasts a little longer.

Grats on crossing one off your list. The key could be old even with the lack of corrosion , antique skeleton keys are used in a lot of jewellery now days, so it could be an old key that was a recent drop. Cool finds!

Nice find on the key.
I guess Im lucky.... I found a brass one about that size while walking in a farm field a few years back.

Yep I was, think you can tell from the video.

Supposed to be 60 degrees F tomorrow

No stock pile of silver that I know of, a 6 silver day is a record, I wanted one more quite bad. Considdering the type of hunting I do mostly, I haven't done bad on the silvers though. Year end post is comming soon, this weather can't last. We had 18 inches of snow once already.
