Simple Buckle

After about a month of finding only trash and junk I found this in my yard (1800 farm house). Not spectacular but was exciting for me. My first buckle, so I know nothing about how old it is. What kind of metal are they made from? No rust really. Assuming it's from a boot but not 100% sure. Thank you.

buckles are usually made of brass or iron. if it isnt rusty it is most likely brass

awesome find no shame in that. buckles are one of my favorite finds even the simple ones. There's just so many different types it's crazy.

There are quite a few books written for buckle identification, and are a ton of fun for me to find too. Still looking for a fancy one, but have found a couple now like yours. Keepers in my book, congrats on your buckle find!
