Silvers on Saturday and today
Our Club had a hunt on Maryland's Eastern Shore this past Saturday and the farm field was "hot" with finds. Among the detectorists I spoke with I can account for numerous coins including large cents, Barber quarters, seated dimes, and a cut 4 reale. A couple pickers tokens were recovered. I know one digger(JF) got an intact crotal bell.
I was fortunate to come away with a tombac button, two porcelain buttons and a "mercury" dime, which came late in the day.
This being my last day of vacation, I got out for a morning hunt in a couple Baltimore City parks.
The first park was sort of a bust but we did come across some wheat cents; John probably dug nine there.
We hit one more park nearby and this time my search for high-tones yielded silver x 2. First was a deep Washington quarter - 1942 and my second silver hit was a rusty chain with silver charms. These are all European silver ranging from 800 to 835 purity and represent cities someone visited: Berlin, Frankfurt, Heidelburg, Mannheim and Potsdam.
Afterwards I headed home but John went to park #3 and was successful with two IHCs, one of which is an 1871.
