Discovery 1100
It was around 5:30 pm when my wife got home from work carrying all the regular mail from the post office along with my New Discovery 1100. Like a baby with a new toy, I opened it up and put new batteries in it and ran off to the Starr County Park which is approx. 2 blocks away from home. I headed to the swings area and started swinging it with the mode set to reject iron only. I'm impressed with it's accuracy. Didn't had trouble finding the targets it sounded off. The smallest was the back of a blue jean button which it showed at 5" in the nickel range and again it was right on target in a piece of dried up dirt which i picked up and smashed it at a concrete table and there it was. I'm happy with the outcome of this 1 hour hunt. Bunch of trash, 1 Quarter, 5 Pennies, 1 Mexican 20 Cent coin, 1 Silver Ear Ring (this one was at 4" and has a stone), and what seems as an old military button (I don't know about buttons so I'll just call it like that). Forgot to say that one of the pennies is a 1965 Canadian One Cent. Also, I just crossed my 500 coin mark!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!!!!!

glad ya like the new detector

You know... I was almost ashamed to admit it but I bought 2 of them when Radioshack discontinued them last year. I wasn't sure if I would like DMing but I am fast becoming addicted. I have started researching old plat maps and piecing together info on new areas to hunt. I find myself looking at possible areas to search on my way home from the office each night and I keep the dectector in the car for just such occasions. I have only targeted tot lots thus far but I've managed over 20 bucks in clad to date. I am saving all my clad and I'm looking to buy the ACE 250. Might take me a few years to get there unless I start finding gold/silver. ;D

It sure has taken a lot of time away from my fishing... :-[

After cleaning the rear of the button it shows

Waterbury Buttons Co.

It is a current Company so I dont think its an old button..... :(

Congrats!!! The button is a Civil War Period Eagle general service button!!!!

Excellent finds, especially the civil war eagle button, and in Texas to boot!!!!

Nice finds,

It's great to have a unit that can find the goods.
