I got to the next park yesterday and had a a few hours to hunt before I got grandkids off the bus. This park is not heavily used, but I have pulled some nice gold and a family heirloom ring that I was able to return so I always give it a go with high hopes and realistic expectations. When the swim ropes come out this is a popular spot for the fishermen because the rest of the lake has so many weeds they constantly get hung up. So these pictures shows the evidence of that popularity, 51 fishing sinkers and 4 lures. I found a lot of foil this trip and a copper bead, but no whole tabs only 3 small pieces of a tab scattered around in the water.
All in all 19 coins with a face value of $.98. Not a lot for 5 hours, but sometimes you get lucky. I did manage to find some jewelry, a small silver earring that has been there a while because the sand is really caked in tight (that one gets a long ride in the sonic cleaner), another silver earring that is marked 925+1/20 10k PP so it is actually 5% 10k gold over sterling silver. I guess I did find some gold after all. If you look real closely you can see that the first earring actually has 2 very small black stones in it and it turns out that they test as diamonds. So gold, silver, and ice yesterday (really small amounts of each, but at least I kept the streak alive).
And lastly the crazy stuff. They look and feel like stainless steel, and I have never found anything like them before. My best guess is they are some weird style of earring. If anyone can confirm or correct me on that I would appreciate it.
I am camping with the scout this weekend and next week looks like I will be luck to get out with my full schedule. But I am a diehard so I will try to work in a short hunt or two. I had fun and hope you enjoyed the post.
Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.
