I know I haven't hunted or posted much this summer. I've been doing alot of side work with a buddy of mine all over Illinois plus my regular job. I wish I had my detector with me at more than a few places we went to, but it was strickly business so no time to hunt.
I finally decided that I'm going out today come hell or high water, besides the Bears are playing monday night. I got out to a forest preserve I've hunted a few times and I haven't found much over 90% of this place except for one small area (maybe half an acre). I've pulled mercs, buffalos & wheats from this area before, all dating from the 1920's.
Today I found this 1911 Barber (first barber from this site) and a couple of 1919 wheats, which must be the most common year for wheats because I've found tons of 1919's over the years. Lots of old can lids and bottles lying around to plus alot of auto parts scattered around. I believe I've got two thermostat gaskets in the pics plus part of a distributor cap.
Anyways thanks for reading and I'm going to make more time for hunting before the white stuff starts coming down so hopefully will have more to post.
