Tesoro Silver UMax , Bounty Hunter Quick Draw 2
The mailman delivered a 10.5 coil this afternoon and I had to give it a try on the Silver Umax even though conditions weren't the best. The first signal was a very strong signal . After digging I saw something shiny and thought for sure I had a silver dime. After getting it out and closely examining it I noticed it was a girl scout necklace item with STER stamped on the back. What a way to start off with the 10.5 coil ! I also found some clad but due to the weather I cut things short. The 10.5 may replace my 9x8 . I'm not sure why Tesoro dicontinued these coils. Looking forward to using this coil more.

Doug,

What the heck are you going to do with another 9x8 coil? :) I hate to say this but I like the way the 10.5 swings. The jury is still out on the coil though . I got a heck of a deal on it and just couldn't pass it up. If I ever decide to let the 9x8 go I will let you know. But knowing me I may buy another Silver Umax and may need it :)

Dontcha just hate winter... :(

I think it maybe a little colder up where you are :) I can imagine some of that lake effect snow !!

Hey Hoosier, can that thing get through 3 feet of lake effect snow. If so let me know and I will send you all you need :tongue3: jgas P.s. Northern Indiana blows this time of year!

I live in Indy . I'm always watching our weatherman telling us about all the lake effect snow in Northern Indiana. My son went to a college in Fort Wayne . He couldn't believe the big difference in snow amounts between Ft. Wayne and Indy. I hate driving in deep snow.

Hoosier,

I've been waiting to see if you got that new coil. I'm considering it still. Can you tell if you're getting any deeper?

Would you be willing to run a test and post the results for us fellow Silver uMax'ers?

Thanks,
Jason

Jason,

Are you still using the 8 inch coil ? I personally think the 9x8 is a much better coil then the stock 8 inch . Pinpointing isn't to bad either with the 9x8. I like the way the 10.5 swings . But the jury is still out on it. Pinpointing seems awesome with it also. I wouldn't mind doing a youtube video and see what each coil ( 8, 9X8 & 10.5 ) is capable of. I think if you ask ModerMiner he would also say the 9x8 is better then the 8 inch stock coil.

I'm sold on the idea of upgrading the stock coil. I love the 9x8 I've been using and get great depth now. I've heard great things about the 10x12 too but have never tried one. Haven't needed to really. ;D
The Silver Umax has been a great machine.

Doug,
I saw a 10x12 on Ebay. Maybe if you give your wife her bird band ring as a early XMAS present she may buy it for you :) I'm still going to give my wife the old ugly deer ring!
