It was a 3 hour solo hunt today, & I found my 5th Silver in 5 outings! Pretty good for this time of year, on low value targets. I returned to another large field with lots of oil-seed rape failure. There is one area that I found that I need to return to with Cru'Dad & grid. I think there could be a hammered hiding there!

Broken 17th C Buckle
Broken Medieval Buckle
13th C Medieval Annular Brooch (No Pin)
1869 Halfpenny
William III Shilling - Very worn but a very scarce UK Find, a bit like the Charles II I got recently.

Having a little run of tough to find Milled coinage!

Cool finds! Happy to see you as productive as ever. Were the WIII 6 pence coins the ones that were bent to make paired love tokens? How big is the shilling?

Congrats! A Silver saves any hunt and having a streak is even more motivation to keep swinging. Ok, i don't think you need motivation.... :icon_thumright:

Yes,& they are a much more common find that this larger Shilling.

Seems like William III shillings are scarce on both sides of the pond! I understand why in the New World, but why are they scarce in the U.K.?

Congratualtions on the fine hunt! :occasion14:

Hi , Maritime history clearly states british and dutch shipping of the 2 East India Comanies sail east with ships full of silver . NO MONEY to be made out of raccoon fur hats . Ship wrecks Tryall , Batavia, Verguide Draeck, Zeewijk proves that. Never much english or dutch silver found from this century in North Americia. WILLIAM was Dutch by birth. Tp

Good way to keep a silver streak alive Crusader. Congrats!

No idea, I guess they just found better ways of looking after them. A Shilling in the early 1700s was a huge amount of money.

Very nice find. I hope I am lucky enough to find English silver over here one day. I have many Spanish pieces.

5 silvers in 5 outings unheard of congrats on the streak!

I'm sure I've done more but don't normally keep count, it's just very unusual for this time of year when options are low & low priority.
