This is my first post. I have a whites coinmaster, Anybody have anything good or bad to say about this machine? I have been out that last 5 days around some of the older homesteads in my area. I found a Silver spoon 2 days ago. That was the best find. I also found an old brass lighter that looks like a zippo, but I think it says reliance on the bottom, 2 horseshoes, and a bunch of junk iron.

cb,

Welcome aboard. Looks like you are having a great start with some very interesting finds. Your lighter is most likely from the Japanese company Reliance, who manufactured cigarette and pipe lighters. From the references I can find they covered at least the 50's through the 70's, with a vague reference in the 40's as well. Nice work.

HI CBBRINK, Welcome to the fourm. Bunch of great people here, and info ;D My first GOOD find was a silver spoon also, an 1847 Rodgers bros spoon, does yours have any writing or marks on it?
Congrats on the first of many good finds..... keep up the good work....HAPPY HUNTING MAJIK

Great job! It's alot of fun isn't it?
Ive never used that model of MD before but it seems to work just find lol Good luck and keep posting

It is definitely alot of fun. Thanks for the welcom. It has a V on the front and on the back it has a C and it looks like it says sterling. Not sure though. It is definitely old, the end isn't shaped perfectly.

Great find. Rogers is a very well known silver co. for making silverware. Found one myself last week. I also have a coinmaster 6000 DI Whites. They work very well for thier age. Make sure you put the Tuner knob to just above no sound at all and the volume about 3 o'clock unless using headphones then adjust accordingly. I usually keep the discrimination around pulltabs or foil. Everything else I leave on preset. Mine came with a larger coil which makes for alot deeper targets. This will get you started but you will get more used to your machine and ground conditions as you go. Of course you need to obtain ground balance everytime you start at a location. If not familiar with this then hold machine waist high and flip the GEB switch to air and release, should hear a beep, then lower machine to ground level and pull back on switch for another beep and slowly rise off the ground. If no other noise is heard after the good ground beep then lock it in the middle possition and your on your way to silver. Good luck and dont be afraid to ask for more help.
